All Insal’Arte salads are already thoroughly washed, carefully prepared and ready to eat.
The washing stage of our salads consists in at least three consecutive washing and rising in bathtubs, placed in series one after the other. The product remains several minutes in potable water, in order to reduce the bacterial load.
Is it necessary to wash your Insal’Arte salads before eat them?
Insal’Arte salads are already washed several minutes in potable water in bathtubs, placed in series one after the other. Re-washing the salads will not damage the products but it is absolutely not necessary to wash the salad prior to eating.
Are there any preservatives in your Insal’Arte salads?
Insal’Arte salads are preservative free. For optimal freshness they are kept fresh through controlled refrigeration at every stage of production. We recommend to take your products home promptly and store them in your refrigerator for best results.
Are Insal’Arte salads GMO’s free?
Yes, no Insal’Arte product is genetically modified.
Does OrtoRomi put any gas in Insal’Arte packaging?
In some salads, in order to avoid the oxidation of the product OrtoRomi puts a food suitable gas mixture that works as a protective atmosphere; this mix has the same air components that we breathe, but with a different percentage.
Where does OrtoRomi salads come from?
Sold products come from cultivations managed and checked directly by the Farms partners of the Cooperative OrtoRomi. The partners of the Cooperative OrtoRomi are 10 farms including the Cooperative Co.ve.ca.a., placed all over Italy conferring raw material to OrtoRomi 365 days-a-year. OrtoRomi counts 2 factories for processing and packaging: one in Padova, based in Borgoricco and one in Salerno, based in Bellizzi.
Once opened, what should I do with my package? What’s the best way to store Insal’Arte salads?
Insal’Arte products must be consumed in the shortest time possible and once opened the package should be store upright in the refrigerator, closed with a clamp.
Why a fresh cut salad lasts longer than salad heads?
Insal’Arte salads are kept fresh through carefully controlled refrigeration at every stage of production at max +8°C, from the transport of the harvested product, to the enhancing and packaging of the product and deliver to the distribution platform which permits to preserve fresh cut products longer than heads.
Why do I find sometimes little drops of water in Insal’Arte salads packages?
Condensation created inside Insal’Arte packaging is normal and is the result of a natural condensation that may suffer the product.
Salads are 100% water therefore suffer a natural transpiration process that does not affect the quality of product.
Is it possible to eat anyway if the package is “inflated”?
If the salad is not expired and looks good without any unusual odor, yes.
In some salads the package looks inflated because in order to avoid oxidation OrtoRomi puts a food suitable gas mixture that works as a protective atmosphere.
A improper storage of the product, for example not keeping it refrigerated, may cause the package to inflate and if the salad does not look good, it should not be consumed.
Is it possible to eat an expired salad?
Insal’Arte salads are preservative and additives free. For optimal freshness a “best if used by” date is located in each bag.
How are obtained Insal’Arte fruits and vegetables extracts? Are they pasteurized?
Insal’Arte extracts are obtained from selected cold pressed fruits and vegetables and “pasteurized” at high pressures (around 6.000 bar) through an innovative method called High Pressure Processing, that without any particularly thermal alterations, preserves ingredients and characteristics of raw material guaranteeing also a microbiologically stable product.
Are Insal’Arte extracts just fruits and vegetables?
Yes, they are. Insal’Arte extracts are obtained just with selected fruits and vegetables without any colorants, preservatives nor added sugars.
Furthermore OrtoRomi guarantees the quality of fruits and vegetables extracts by availing itself on selected, qualified and multicertified Italian suppliers when possible and if necessary in particular for exotic fruits (mango, avocado, bananas etc…) on reliable foreign partners.
Why Insal’Arte extracts are available in refrigerated shelves?
Insal’Arte extracts are obtained from selected fruits and vegetables without any preservatives.
The only preservative used by OrtoRomi is to respect the cold chain in order to preserve the nutritive principles of the ingredients therefore they are available in refrigerated shelves and should be kept refrigerated even at home.
Is it normal to find a sediment at the bottom of the bottle? Should I trust to drink the extract anyway?
Insal’Arte extract is the result of a process that equals an homemade extract and since is unfiltered may present a sediment at the bottom of the bottle which is normal and should not be considered a flaw; just shake well before drink it. We also suggest to drink the entire juice within 24 hours from opening.
I am celiac, should I trust drink Insal’Arte extracts? Are they gluten free?
Yes, absolutely. All extracts are gluten free.
Are Insal’Arte extracts controlled during their production?
At the acceptance stage all raw materials are controlled to see if they look healthy, intact and without any rot or molds, with its typical odor and taste.
Only colour flaws of the skin and not calibrated products are accepted since they do not affect the quality of the extracts.
Also ripeness degree, Brix concentration (sugars) and pH level are taken into consideration at this stage.
At the end of the production process OrtoRomi controls: pH, sugars, colour and tasting of the final extract. Furthermore it is provided an internal control plan with microbial analysis.
Are Insal’Arte packages reclyclable?
Yes, they are and should recycle as your Country’s provisions contemplate.
How Insal’Arte soups are made?
Soups and mashed soups are obtained from selected raw material that have passed the quality control in acceptance phase. Once washed and cut (vegetables), the ingredients are weighed and mixed in special cookers at high temperatures, according to the exclusive receipes signed by Insal’Arte. The result is a tasty soup without any preservatives, colorants nor glutamate, as homemade.
Are soups and mashed soups pasteurized?
Yes, through a treatment that is carried out with different time-temperature combinations in order to guarantee a microbiologically stable product. The nutritional value and the organoleptic characteristics are preserved without any alteration.
Once purchased should i eat them without heating?
No, Insal’Arte soups should be boiled for at least 5 minutes in a pan or 4 minutes in a microwave at 900 watts, stirring halfway through cooking. For more information, please read the preparation methods shown in the paper wrapper containing the tray.
Why Insal’Arte soups are available in frigdes and not in free service shelves?
Obtained from vegetables, legumes, high quality cereals, Insal’Arte soups are without any preservatives nor colorants. The only “preservative” used by OrtoRomi is the respect of the cold chain in order to preserve the nutrients of the ingredients and the non-alternation of the microbiological charge, so the soups are sold in the refrigeration counter of the fruit and vegetables department and must be kept refrigerated at home (+2°C and +4°C).
What CHECKS oRTOrOMI CARRIES ON FOR SOUPS?
All stages of the production process of ready to eat soups are subject to quality controls. At acceptance quality control staff checks raw material, followed by checks on every production stage such as pH control, color and taste tests and controls related to processes such as weight control, metal detectors and visual controls. Chemical-physical, microbiological and products analyzes on samples are also planned, based on an internal sampling plan.
